Tap the Profile Panel on the main menu.

From here you can change your name and avatar.

Either tap the dice button to generate a random name, or tap on the text box to type a name.

Tap on the avatar image to see a selection of available avatars. New avatars unlock as you level up. Finally, tap save to keep your changes.
